Who needs 'community' police?
A new article on spiked this week examines the changing roles and attitudes towards the police in recent years. in Boys in Blue: someone to watch over us the reaction to the disappearance of Madeleine McCann reveals how much demand there is for more extensive policing throughout society. Surely the Birmingham Chartists spirit of democracy and freedom is a better place to start?
